Besting the Betes

I'm thrilled to participate in The Blue Circle 5K/10K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run as a new member of the Diabetes Dayton Advisory Board.

My life and the lives of my family members have been indelibly changed by Type 2 Diabetes. I often joke that I am the last person standing in my family without a Type 2 diagnosis, but the truth is that diabetes is something I take incredibly seriously. My Daddy struggled his entire adult life to manage his diabetes and often wrestled with the mental toll of the lifestyle changes his diagnosis dictated. After a foot amputation, followed by two below-the-knee leg amputations as a result of his condition, my Daddy finally gained peace in his passing in 2018. We walk in his memory:
